Game Drives
Twice daily, guests venture into the Big 5 wilderness on guided game drives in open safari vehicles. Each drive unfolds differently, with opportunities to track animals, observe animal behaviour, and gain insight into the complex ecosystems. Morning drives include a coffee stop in the bush, while afternoon drives pause for sundowners before continuing into the evening in search of nocturnal wildlife.
Bush Walks
Stepping into the wilderness on foot is an immersive experience that awakens the senses. The true magic of a bush walk lies in slowing down, becoming part of the land, and experiencing the African wilderness from a completely different perspective. Bush walks are offered as a substitute for a game drive and are subject to the availability of a qualified walking guide.
Our Waterhole
The waterhole is the heart of Senalala. Overlooking the seasonal nTsiri River and a permanent water source, it attracts a remarkable variety of wildlife throughout the year. Whether enjoying a morning coffee or an evening drink on the deck, it is a place to slow down, take in the sights and sounds of the bush, and never quite know what might appear next.

When To Visit?
There is no bad time to visit the Greater Kruger. Each season offers a different perspective on the wilderness, from the dry winter months known for excellent wildlife viewing and comfortable daytime temperatures, to the lush green summers filled with migratory birds, newborn animals, and dramatic afternoon thunderstorms. Whenever you choose to visit, nature always has something unique to offer.
Average Temperatures:
• Summer (October – April): Daytime temperatures typically range between 28°C and 38°C, with mornings and evenings generally remaining warm and pleasant.
• Winter (May – September): Daytime temperatures typically range between 20°C and 28°C, with mornings and evenings occasionally dropping to 5°C – 10°C.
What To Bring?
We recommend comfortable, neutral-coloured clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. During summer, lightweight and breathable clothing is ideal for the warm daytime temperatures. During winter, mornings and evenings on safari can be very cold, and we strongly recommend bringing a warm puffer jacket, fleece, beanie, scarf and gloves for game drives.
Don’t forget your camera, binoculars, swimsuit, comfortable walking shoes, sandals, insect repellent, and any personal medications. We recommend that all guests take appropriate malaria prophylaxis before travelling to the Greater Kruger region and consult their doctor or travel clinic for the most suitable advice prior to departure. Please ensure you bring sufficient supplies for the duration of your stay.
How To Get Here?
Located within the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, Senalala is easily accessible via Hoedspruit Airport (HDS), approximately one hour from the lodge. Daily flights connect Hoedspruit with Johannesburg and Cape Town, and private transfers can be arranged on request. Self-drive guests are also welcome, and directions will be sent upon booking confirmation.
